Marilyn Lloyd the owner/director of Riverbend Dance Academy, began her training at the age of 4 ½, at private dance schools in Edmonton. At the age of 20 she attended the Foley's Academy for a year of concentrated training. Marilyn has studied and taught dance for 30 plus years. Over the years she has worked hard to keep current and expand her teaching and choreography skills through countless workshops, conferences and teachers' meetings throughout the Province, across Canada in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. Marilyn has taught at various schools in Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park before forming Riverbend Dance Academy in 1994.

Marilyn is an active member of the ADEA, ADAPT, and is committed to the ADAPT Syllabus. Has received her Elementary RAD Ballet, along with numerous examinations both with Al Gilbert and Brian Foley, ADAPT Syllabus.

Marilyn's natural ease with children makes her a sought after adjudicator and teacher. She has been a guest instructor, choreographer, and adjudicator.

Marilyn's students have entered into competitions and exams, many of whom have received high standings and scholarships in competitions and festivals. She is a recognized instructor for ADAPT - an acronym for Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers.

 

     

Janel Cameron is very excited about sharing her knowledge and passion for ballet with the dancers at Riverbend Dance Academy. She has spent the past three years traveling throughout Europe and the Caribbean as a lead dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Dancing since the age of three, Janel has completed her Grade 8 Al Gilbert Tap, Advanced II RAD ballet. We welcome Janel to Riverbend Dance and are certain dancers will enjoy her classes.

 

     


Vanessa Lambert
is excited to begin her 3rd year of teaching at Riverbend Dance Academy. She has danced since a young girl and assisted classes with the Academy learning hands on; effective skills to become a qualified dance instructor. Vanessa teaches pre-school, jazz and hip-hop at Riverbend also participated in Disney's Magic Music Days in the summer of 2004, and continues taking dance classes to keep her dance skills current. Vanessa shares her high enthusiasm for dance with the students at Riverbend and her commitment to dance has gained respect from parents and students. Vanessa is currently enrolled at Grant MacEwan Community College taking Business.

Danielle Boulanger began as a dance instructor at Riverbend Dance in 2004. Her dance background at the Academy includes tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop. She has successfully completed both ballet and jazz exams with the ADAPT syllabus and the Edmonton School of Ballet. Her high regard for discipline combined with a high energy dance class gives her students the love for dance. She also actively takes class to keep current and improve her dance/teaching skills. Danielle is attending Grant MacEwan working towards her degree in Arts.

 
     

Shaheena Daredia began studying jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop 10 years ago. She is excited to be back at Riverbend Dance Academy, and aims to challenge herself and her students to reach their full potential. Shaheena is attending the University of Alberta taking Criminology.

 
     

Meghan Cameron began taking ballet classes when she was only two and a half years old, her training intensified as she included many more disciplines. Meghan has also trained at the Banff Center for Performing Arts, and has attended various conventions around Canada and the U.S. She successfully completed her Advanced II RAD exam in 2003 and danced on the Mariner of the Seas for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She is very excited to begin teaching and sharing her love of dance with the students at Riverbend Dance Academy.
